You do this by editing

/etc/kismet/kismet.conf

Find the line that begins with:

source=

and change it to:

source=ath5k,wlan0,ath

Now you are all set and can start Kismet.

Tips for Ubuntu 10.10 Installation on the Lenovo s10-3

Installed Ubuntu 10.10 from a thumbdrive created with unetbootin but to get Ubuntu to boot, you need to add following Kernel parameter:

intel_idle.max_cstate=0

Wireless (Atheros 9285) is working out of the box but with 1 GB RAM you need to create a Swap partition else the Installation will fail.

When you install and boot into Ubuntu, adding the same parameter like before, you need to make sure that you don't need to do this anymore. So open /etc/default/grub and edit the following line to look like this:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash intel_idle.max_cstate=0"

Now run sudo update-grub to apply the changes.

Run sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade to update your System including a newer Kernel. Restart your system and now the Volume and Screen backlight Hotkeys are working.

Now a warning!!!
Do not turn off Wireless with the physical switch and shut down Ubuntu.

If you do this, the Wireless Adapter will remain disabled! Some users on forums report that they restored the State of the Adapter by clearing the CMOS by removing the Backup Battery with the WiFi Switch in the enabled position but this did not help me, I had to boot into Windows and activate the Adapter with the supplied Lenovo Power Management drivers (Fn + F5).
